Watched Aegis of Uruk => pre-ordered => canceled => released => resisted => watched Sword of Uruk => really wanted her again => still resisted to get her online => saw her in a shop and asked and she was reserved so gave up => went back today to pick up a nendoroid and was informed that she’s available now => and here I am writing this up….
While she cannot really be classified under the “cheap” category as far as 1/8 scaled figures go, at first glance she still falls into the “worth the price” category at least for me. And after opening her and getting an even closer look, she’s definitely a purchase I don’t regret.
These pictures here depict her without her mantle, with the mantle pics further down the post. A peg goes through each foot, and personally, the peg on her left foot doesn’t really feel very secure to me, though only time will tell if it’ll actually hold. As far as the shoot went, proceeded smoothly enough without any sign of trouble.
I really like how she looks in this sculpt, and hair color was done really nicely as well.
Hair sculpted really nicely as well, though the lock of hair on her left tends to obscure her face somewhat.
Her clothes are really awesome with really nice detail all around, clean paint job, and a nice finished look to it. Can’t say it’s a really complicated design, but it’s nothing plain either and depending on tastes, that may be a good or bad thing. Works for me though.
A peg inserts into her left hand from her weapon to keep the weapon in place. The frills on her shoulder are removable and have to be removed in order to place her mantle on.
Really nice finish on her weapon, and has articulated parts that depict the weapon in ready or standby mode. Basically the pincer like things you see can be slid forward and clamped shut.
Something I’m never fond of really, figures with human-like proportions at the thighs :p I guess I just like my thighs stick-thin or something, or something not quite as “full” I guess. Nice little detail on her thighs though.
Boots have a nice design, and I really like how the paint looks on the metallic parts of this figure.
Haven’t been getting much Alter stuff lately, so going by past experience, I’ll just say that at least the base isn’t a plain ol’ base like Alter normally dishes out :p
Here’s Fatina with her mantle on, as mentioned earlier, the shoulder piece is removed, and reveals two holes on her shoulder where two pegs from the mantle insert into. The mantle is actually pretty light, but I noticed that the figure is still slightly weighed back by the mantle and tilts backwards just that little bit. I’d recommend bracing the mantle against a wall just so to offset the slight weight backwards to prevent any heartbreaks in the future just in case.
In the end I chose to display the figure with the mantle, since I prefer that look more, though it does come with a few disadvantages, such as obscuring the detail on her back, that added weight on a figure that’s sculpted leaning backwards, and perhaps most importantly, she takes up a hell lot of real estate in the display. With the mantle flowing backwards, and her weapon poking out front, I can’t say she’s really space friendly and she’s fairly large for a 1/8 scaled figure as well.
Just a few shots of a simple scene that hopefully reveals some nice angles which I most probably will miss anyways. Do enjoy them =)
A really great looking figure for me, and still in stock at most online retailers, no doubt due to combined factors such as her cost, and that the series really wasn’t a massive hit in the vein of stuff like SHnY or K-on. Still, I can actually say that she’s a nice grab all in all and is definitely worth the price tag in the end. Hopefully this little review helps you make a decision if you’re sitting on the fence and thinking =)

Whoo ! Amazing shooting ! Thanks your for this share, it’s the first character review that i see (and this review is beautiful!) ^^

Apart the mantle looks good, it gives much more motion to the figure as well. The red glow on the background is incredible. I would think the light would blacken the figure into darkness, but it seems you did good on lights. Very nice shooting.

great review! I’ve been searching for a review of Fatina since she was released and was happily surprised to stumble upon your blog. She is a beautiful figure, with a hefty price tag for a 1/8. I just finalized my order with HLJ some days ago, and now she is awaiting presentation to customs….so hopefully I’ll get my hands on her pretty soon! great pictures as well

Nice! I was on the fence with this one when I first saw it, much like you were. I guess for you the scales tipped the opposite of where mine went.
She definitely does look like she was worth the price, no more, no less. Her outfit really has that hefty feel that makes more practical sense for someone going into combat as opposed to skimpy armor.
That base and mantle are pretty slick!
So have you made more room for figures? I wanna know what your room looks like nowadays!

@Leonia: Thanks, was kinda worried I’ll be rusty with photos since it’s been really a long while. So it’s great that you enjoyed it =)
@Hirvine: Either way of displaying is really great for her, and since I assume the hunk of plastic which is her mantle figures into the cost as well, I might as well display it :p Helps that I like mantles as well though ^^
@ReyJ: Thanks for the comment! The price does seem somewhat hefty, but since she feels somewhat larger than other 1/8s out there, it’s really not too bad in the end and the quality of the figure doesn’t make the price seem like a ripoff. Hopefully you’ll enjoy your copy of her as much as I do when she arrives =)
@radiant: In all honesty I would have given up if not for the evil sales pitch by the boss, guess he really did take me seriously and went out of his way to try and sell this figure to me :p
If the outfit was any heftier it would have conflicted with my AD&D tendencies tho, since she’s pretty much wizard class and I’m not really used to seeing much metal on them ^^;
Not much change really from the pics in my about section, I just don’t open figures these days and I’ve certainly cut down on figure purchases a fair bit as well so the space issue isn’t critical as yet. I see more HLJ boxes containing my PC games piling up though, luckily PC games don’t really take up as much space as figures. Maybe I’ll do a random post on what my place looks like one of these days, that is, if I ever clean up the house so I can fake some semblance of organization :p
Your boss is the boss for a reason – he knows how to sell!
I have to admit that her outfit does bring out the AD&D side of me as well. It really looks RPG-style, and the figure captures it really well!
No worries about the room in terms of messiness. Thankfully, nobody can top Lightning Sabre in that regards.
I’ve started going down the path of “not opening figures” now. To think, last year it was simply “I’m running out of space!” this year it’s “I’m not opening my figures!”
Glad you’ve changed gears with more focus on space-saving PC games. ^_^;

Nah, didn’t get it from the ex-boss, he wouldn’t be able to get recent releases so fast anyways, heheh :p
Yeah in the end if the figures are gonna be opened to just collect dust out in the open or just squeezed unceremoniously somewhere, might as well just leave it sealed or something. That way if you actually get bored or 2nd thoughts, you can just sell it and say it’s MISB, lol.
Games are space saving, but figures are definitely more wallet friendly, heheh. Either direction is pretty messed up in the long run :p
A great figure indeed. Alter did one hell of a job on her. The major downside I see on this figure is the hefty price
. The hair band kinda reminds me of nekomimis XD.
I can see some nice photoshop transformations that could be done on this figure with the right angle, like creating a nice laser blast coming out from that gun.

I snapped at the pre-order. Isabelle is a figure which I find very beautiful and your review underlines my opinion and my desire to buy it.
Your background color “fire” is beautiful! This creates a real atmosphere.
Congratulations!

@Belela-san: Definitely a nice job by Alter all in all, and while the price tag may be pretty steep, you really don’t feel short-changed after you see her due to her nice size and quality. And one can never underestimate the power of nekomimis =p
Not too great with PS, so those ideas will never be realized, at least not by me ^^;
@Lylibellule: Thanks, she really is an awesome figure. Truly a nice purchase you made~!
Im kinda in a pinch when it comes to Tower of Druaga.I really loved the first season for its light hearted fun it provided and really hated the second season for suddenly becoming another one of those pseudo serious I have to follow my brothers footsteps kind of series.
At first I didnt really like Fatina but she later grew on me.I am amazed that shes still avaiable since shes a pretty nice figure.I didnt order her in the end though due to my so-so relationship with the series.I really like those wrinkles in her pelvic area.
Very nice sculpt ^^
